so, it seems that a relatively dormant blog has been made mostly dormant by facebook and instagram.

it is fasinanting how the new social outlets take the place of the older, rendering them “left for dead” social sites. 

how long has it been since i (or anyone else) has updated (or even thought about) an abandoned flickr? now, obviously,  nothing in the SOCIAL NETWORKING WORLD will ever remain lasting (or finished). everything is a work in progress happily deserted by its creator and helplessly idle for who-knows-how-long (until the site is shut down?— i still, as do you i am sure, have a myspace account (and a friendster((!!!!))) that exists without regard) 

perhaps it is time to view this (at least from my perspective) as THE WAY THINGS ARE. 

here i am though, still feeling guilty about this little blog and CHECKING IN.

train travel is dignified travel

since i will be spending the next few months upon that open road, i have decided to jettison my winter coat come tuesday when i board the city of new orleans and head south for the winter. i am looking forward to waking up wednesday morning to see mississippi rushing past my window. even though there is rain in the new orleans forecast, it is still looking like 72 degrees for most of the week. 

i like the idea of starting an adventure in the french quarter of new orleans before embarking on a lengthy tour of the US and Canada and finishing up in actual France in may for a parisian birthday. C’est la vie !

Don’t be a Hater

i too was in a cover band back in high school, and i used to be get so bummed playing “hey jealousy” on guitar. 

flash-forward to the year twenty-twelve and i love playing “hey jealousy” on guitar.

and you know something? i’m pretty fucking grateful that i don’t have to hang around anyone who frowns upon this pleasure. 

believe me, such a person exists. and that person is miserable.

i believe in bugs

i’m not the type to talk about seeing auras, but yesterday afternoon i definitely saw a yellow light surrounding you while you we speaking. i kept looking away, refocusing my eyes to see if it would disappear but it remained. i rationalized that this was probably caused by a combination of lighting and wallpaper, but when a person standing in the exact same spot immediately after you had no such glow, i decided to abandon explanations and accept the fact that you had a visible aura. 

later that evening, i calmly explained to a 10 year old boy that i don’t believe in ghosts. i was quickly and soundly rebuffed by his grandmother. i found her affirmation to be a bit scandalous; when the lad says there is a ghost under the bed, i guess grandma replies: “yes. there is a ghost under your bed”. 

so, what exactly is my position on the supernatural?
